The International Congress of the Spanish Language (CILE) has been gaining space, notoriety and recognition as a forum for reflection on the Spanish language and all the essential issues of it, since its first edition in 1997.

It is celebrated every three years, always in cities of Spain or Hispanic Americans.
Its organization is in charge of the Cervantes Institute that fulfills the functions of permanent general secretariat of the Congresses, the Royal Spanish Academy and the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language, together with the highest authorities of the organizing country of each edition.

The topics addressed in each edition are framed in the analysis of the current situation, the problems and challenges of Spanish. They seek to awaken awareness of the co-responsibility of governments, institutions and people in the promotion and unity of the language, understood as the backbone of the Ibero-American community at all levels, in dialogue with other languages that are the common heritage of it.

The CILE is aimed at academics, linguists, writers, journalists, editors, filmmakers, professors, students and cultural, political and economic references related to the development and promotion of language and culture in Spanish.

This year, the eighth edition of the Congress will take place from March 27 to 30 in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, under the theme “America and the future of Spanish. Culture and education, technology and entrepreneurship”.

We are so excited to be a member of the organizing committee of the pre-conference and be the host province, in this opportunity!
