Children Day Care Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina

You are the one who can assure these children to have the chance to grow up safe and healthy.

This day care center looks after the youngest of the “cartoneros’” children during the mornings and early afternoons (approximately 70 children that live in the nearby neighborhood). Cartoneros are the people who collect anything that can be reused or recycled from the trash bags. They work to keep their children from doing so, and try to provide their son and daughters a better environment to grow up, but it’s sometimes hard for them to do it. This project provides that help.
Most important Volunteer task is building friendships and entertaining children. All children come from humble families and have little pedagogical or educational support. The cartoneros are a special group within the Argentinean society that faces on a daily basis discrimination, violence and severe poverty. By taking care of their children you will be providing a healthy environment for them to grow up and an easier time on making a living for their parents.
This is a lovely project that makes life worth it, but there are few resources. Therefore, it may seem sometimes difficult to entertain the children, but volunteer will realize quickly that affection and imagination are miracle-workers and that with those two tools, many things can be done. Though it is located in a rather difficult neighborhood and pretty far from downtown Buenos Aires, you’ll see that it will be totally worth it to make the effort. The neighborhood is made out of several settlements of people that have recyclables collection as their only mean of survival. You don’t need to worry about safety though, because you’ll be accompanied by a tutor to adjust yourself to this new situation.

Join this project and make the difference!

The staff at the project will walk the you to the bus stop and will also wait for you when they arrive at the bus stop. For sure, they will help you with everything you may need, since Volunteers are of great help to them.
Children will be provided with healthy learning environment through interactive games and pictograph stories. Emphasis on the nutritional care of the children is also given in the center. You can also get involved with the children in various games and learning exercises to create interest in them and develop their physical health and potentiality. Creative games, activities, and craftworks are carried out to better educate the children and develop their mind-body coordination skills.
Whether you are thinking of becoming an educator or just have a genuine love of children, volunteering at a child care center may be just for you. Many high school and college students can gain significant experience by volunteering their time to build their resume. Others who enjoy children can gain satisfaction in their life by helping children in such a setting.
This children need you to play, learn and just hang out with them. Sometimes, they have a hard time at home, so this center works pretty much as a support system for them. The extreme poverty in which they and their families live can scar them for life. Be part of the volunteer group that donate their time to make the lives of these children better! It is very important to be patient because some children have gone through difficult situations and sometimes the participants have to handle children’s bad behavior. The participant must be didactic as well, and by the end of the project they will gain not only a lot of experience, but also satisfaction.
