Volunteers

Volunteer is a Latin word! Come and find out why! The dictionary says that to volunteer is to work on behalf of others, but when you put your bit to help people in need, everyone comes out a winner. Latin America is waiting for your help!

What's a volunteer ?

We are part of a rich world but of uneven distribution, there is a huge difference between those who have a lot and those who have almost nothing. Under these circumstances the environment is also affected. A lot of selfless organizations fill in the gap that lets a lot of the Latin population without assistance. You can be part of that help, whether protecting endangered species, lending a hand to the elderly, teaching young children, cooking in a soup kitchen or working in a national park. Come and help people in need to improve their quality of life as you develop your skills, meet new friends and learn to see the world with other eyes.

CARE CHILDREN VOLUNTEER ABROAD

Children everywhere need that hug, that genuine smile, that hand who takes them out of their daily routine and into a new world of intercultural exchange. A small gesture such as cleaning a dirty nose truly contributes to their happiness. Children are always hungry for having fun, of sharing their friendship in exchange of learning to count in a foreign language. Our Care - Children Volunteer placements imply tasks from serving breakfast at a social kindergarten and playing football, to making little trips with adolescents, but can also involve simple teach tasks, such as assisting the school-going children with their homework. Even when there are no specific task-descriptions at the beginning of your placement and you have to figure out yourself how to help, remember that just being there has a positive impact on the children’s life. Here below you will find placements in kindergartens, orphanages, day cares and so on.

CARE CONDITIONED VOLUNTEER ABROAD

Our Care - Conditioned placements stand for lending a hand in carefully selected local organizations that focus on helping society's most vulnerable people in order to make their lives rewarding and more complete. What means being conditioned or being socially vulnerable? When we talk about Care - Conditioned placements, we talk about helping out in projects which assist people who, for example, are suffering from AIDS or HIV, who have had a troubled past and are trying to recover (think of the homeless, drug addicts, prisoners, sex workers and so on). Tasks consist of assisting the staff, helping the locals with their daily activities and setting up new entertaining workshops

CARE ELDERLY VOLUNTEER ABROAD

After a long life of hard working, everyone should enjoy a nice, quiet old day. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many elderly in Central and South America. Due to personal, economical or social circumstances, many aged find themselves alone and living in homes or shelters. Volunteers are welcome to cheer up their day! At first sight, this appears not to be one of the most attractive categories for the typical volunteer, but those who are willing to give it a try and dedicate their time to those who have earned our respect and affection, will certainly not regret it! Generally the job is quite easy and placement tasks examples are accompanying the elderly, assisting the regular staff with daily duties and setting up new entertaining activities.

REPAIRS AND RENOVATION VOLUNTEER ABROAD

Sometimes you only have a short time to dedicate to volunteering. Or maybe you just want to see quick results. Perhaps you are quite handy and like to help where really needed. Possibly you prefer to enjoy long term effects immediately? Are you planning to volunteer with colleagues, family or friends? Then this category is the one you are looking for. Repairs & Renovations placements are volunteer opportunities which are focused on improving and renovating the housing and buildings of the local projects. For example, a small day care in Argentina needs to have its walls painted, but the teachers can’t find the time to do it. Or, a shelter for homeless people in Guatemala is having problems with the roof since the last hurricane and needs a practical volunteer to assist them with the reparation. Imagine yourself working hard and getting pretty tired and dirty, but seeing the results of all that hard work just before going home again. Nice idea, don’t you think?
