Praia Tamarindo está localizada no litoral Norte da costa pacífica de Costa Rica, mais especificamente na península de Nicoya, na província de Guanacaste. Antigamente, era uma vila de pescadores, mas atualmente se tornou num moderno destino turístico com cenários muito bonitos e todas as instalações necessárias para garantir a seus visitantes uma estada segura e confortável.
Tamarindo pode parecer à primeira vista mais uma praia afastada e isolada do mapa de Costa Rica; porém, suas surpreendentes características a tornam num lugar maravilhoso. Uma delas é a sua atmosfera tranqüila e relaxada. Em poucos metros você já pode descobrir as belezas naturais que oferece.Muitas pessoas gostam de visitar lugares naturais como florestas, selvas, e mais.
Merecem destaque: Playa Grande, uma praia maravilhosa, que faz parte do parque Nacional Las Baulas, onde habitam as tartarugas marinas, em perigo de extinção. Playa Langosta, é uma alternativa para os que preferem praias com ondas ponderosas para surfar.

Turtle watching: Watching the endangered leatherback turtle come onto the beach at night and lay eggs is one of the most amazing adventure one can experience in a lifetime. You'll be able to close to them and to admire this miracle of nature.

Surfing: Tamarindo is a great place to use as base to explore a wide variety of surf breaks within a short distance. Breaks within walking distance include the rivermouth, Langosta, Pico Pequeño and within a short drive you can surf Grande, Avellanes, Negra and a boat trip away from Witches Rock and Ollie's Point.

Kayaking on the estuaries: Meander through the slow estuary waters shaded by the extensive mangroves. You'll be able to spot birds, iguanas and crocodiles basking on the sun-drenched riverbanks!

Visit one of the local fiestas: All throughout the surrounding small villages you can find spontaneous fiestas. People here is very kind and they will invite you to take part and to feel like one local!

Sunset sailing tour: spend an evening sailing and admiring the view, that is simply breathtaking. We can tell you all about it but we know you want to see it for yourself. If you're lucky you'll be able to spot turtles, jumping rays and whales.

Monkey Park: Get to see local wildlife face-to-face. The owners of this Refuge work hard to save as many local wild animals as possible with almost no budget. Visit and get to know the fauna of the area.

Clima 
The sun shines just about 365 days per year, and the temperature is pleasantly warm year round. In the rainy season, from May through October, you can expect a brief shower in the late afternoon, making the beach sparkle, and allowing for extraordinary sunsets.
