Tamarindo

Tamarindo is an international destination where tourists from all over the world but especially from Europe and USA assist on a regular basis. Some of them even have summer houses there.
Why is this such a favorite destination? Its beach is a three and a half kilometer stretch of white sand and warm blue water. It is surrounded by National Parks to the north and south, and mountains to the east. It is prepared for tourists: has grocery stores, bakeries, specialty shops, banks and more, poised to provide for your every need and its own airport.
On top of that, it offers surroundings that invite you to do all sorts of outdoor actitivities. Tamarindo offers first class sport fishing, sailing, surfing, golfing, ATV tours, turtle watching, diving, horseback riding, canopy tours, jungle boat rides as well as beauty spa, an art gallery and crafts and pottery stores. The nightlife here stands out as the wildest nightlife of the country. Here you can party all night long!! (Of course without forgetting to attend to your Spanish classes).
Is all this enough for you? We bet it is! But there's more! The nature surrounding the town is amazing and you'll have the chance to have third kind encounters with monkeys and iguanas! If you're a born surfer you'll love the beach's great waves, and if you're just starting you'll love the fact that there are calmer places for you to practice!

The best of the city

Sunset sailing tour: spend an evening sailing and admiring the view, that is simply breathtaking. We can tell you all about it but we know you want to see it for yourself. If you're lucky you'll be able to spot turtles, jumping rays and whales.

Turtle watching: Watching the endangered leatherback turtle come onto the beach at night and lay eggs is one of the most amazing adventure one can experience in a lifetime. You'll be able to close to them and to admire this miracle of nature.

Surfing: Tamarindo is a great place to use as base to explore a wide variety of surf breaks within a short distance. Breaks within walking distance include the rivermouth, Langosta, Pico Pequeño and within a short drive you can surf Grande, Avellanes, Negra and a boat trip away from Witches Rock and Ollie's Point.

Kayaking on the estuaries: Meander through the slow estuary waters shaded by the extensive mangroves. You'll be able to spot birds, iguanas and crocodiles basking on the sun-drenched riverbanks!

Visit one of the local fiestas: All throughout the surrounding small villages you can find spontaneous fiestas. People here is very kind and they will invite you to take part and to feel like one local!

Monkey Park: Get to see local wildlife face-to-face. The owners of this Refuge work hard to save as many local wild animals as possible with almost no budget. Visit and get to know the fauna of the area.
